Tannkosh 2011: Clearance to win – every 100th pilot wins a Visual Flight Guide

DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung, the German air navigation service provider, will be giving away the electronic version of the AIP VFR Germany at the Tannkosh Fly-In which will take place from 26 – 28 August in Tannheim, Germany. DFS will also be presenting their aeronautical publications and flight information services (FIS).

After landing, every hundredth pilot will receive a coupon while registering with which they can pick up a free Visual Flight Guide at the DFS stand. The Visual Flight Guide includes the complete German Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) VFR as well as numerous practical functions to aid in flight planning. So, for example, you can download monthly updates with just one click of the mouse. You can also mark your own routes on geographical charts; this can then be combined with visual operation and aerodrome charts in one “TripKit" which can be printed out.

At the stand, visitors will be treated to an up-close look at aeronautical maps and charts, text books and training manuals, as well as our online products and services, not to mention our iphone/ipad apps: “VFRiCharts" and “VFRiNOTAM". This year, as in previous ones, visitors to the DFS stand may order aeronautical publications free of shipping costs.

You will also find a real FIS console at the stand. Pilots will be able to look over a FIS controller’s shoulder and learn more about their job. Herwart Goldbach, Head of FIS in Langen, will be presenting on how to prevent airspace violations, on how to best work with FIS as well as how FIS can help pilots in adverse weather conditions.

DFS presentations will take place in the Tannkosh Briefing tent.
